Pa-Beauty and Pa-Pogi
The government is filled with so many beautiful people! Most of the people in government are so concerned with keeping their jobs that they resort to all sorts of "pa-pogi" and "pa-beauty" just to project an image of effectiveness.
Everything stems from the leadership. As it is now, PGMA is so preoccupied with her "pa-beauty" strategy to save her administration from it's eventual demise. All the media hype and propaganda being flashed all over the place seems to make it appear that the PGMA has weathered the storm and is non the way to recovery. Psy-war is really at play nowadays with each camp trying to outdo the other with scandals, surveys, media sorties, etc. It is truly a "pa-beauty" contest to behold. For me, I am ashamed to be a citizen of a country whose leaders are more concerned with self-preservation to continue their plunder of the country and to avoid being prosecuted. Filipino words such as "takot na takot", "praning", "kapalmuks" best describe our leadership.
The parade of beauties is not a monopoly of PGMA. Her cohorts and subordinates are also participants in this pageant. The cabinet secretaries all bask in the glory of kleiglights as they babble their lies all over media. The gall in which they can dish out lies without fear is really very appalling. We can clearly see that they are not out there to defend PGMA but to keep themselves entrenched in the halls of power.
From cabinet rank, we go down to bureau level. Again, there is a beauty contest! Perfect example is the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Many taxpayers have complained that their Tax Credit Certificates (TCCs). which are justified and with favorable legal opinions, are withheld by the BIR Commissioner just to project a big collection figure (I understand that the present Mr. BIR OIC also enforces this policy! Tsk! Tsk!). Those who luckily get their TCCs released (which is almost impossible unless you have a really strong backer) are even requested to use them on a staggered basis or not use them at all until advised to do so. "Pa-pogi" at the expense of the taxpayer who has a legitimate claim to a refund or credit!! I think this should be investigated. I am asking those businessmen who have been victims of this ploy to speak up and put an end to this practice. The "kapit-tuko" members of this government surely will do anything just to remain in power. Why fear getting a low, but real collection figure? One might be proven incompetent and removed from the Commissioner's office? Ah I see! No more collection that goes into the pocket!!,"Kapit-tuko" and "kurakot"!!
The bevy of beauties continues on from local governement officials down to the barangay level. That's why we are a people so fascinated with Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, Miss Asia-Pacific, Miss Makati, "Reyna ng Barangay"!!
Foreigners say that our race is a beautiful one but, if this is what beautiful means then I'd rather be ugly.
