Following the Footsteps of Jesus

Last February 8-20, 2009, I, together with my Dad, Mom and brothers, Rosky and Randy, went on a Holy Land pilgrimage. Our trip included Jordan, Israel and Egypt. What made our tour more memorable was the presence of three bishops, nine priests and four nuns in our group. We had daily Masses in various places. We were able to celebrate Mass in the Church of the Beatitudes, Church of Gethsemane, Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Mount Nebo (place of the Moses Memorial), Jericho, Church at Cana (where couples renewed their marriage vows) and Mount Sinai. We also renewed our baptismal vows in the River Jordan. The members of the religious in our group renewed their vows in the Upper Room, place of the Last Supper.







It was a very humbling experience to pray the Way of the Cross in the actual path our Lord took. To carry the cross from Station 2 to 3 was a highlight for me.







Another highlight was praying at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Although there were many people around, it seemed that once I inserted my petition into one of the crevices in the wall, touched the wall and fell into deep prayer, everything around me seemed not to exist. It was a communion between me and my God.
