Turn Off the Heat!

The summer heat is almost over here in Manila. For the past 2-3 weeks, we have been having scorching heat that was averaging at around 36-37 degrees celsius (96-98 degrees fahrenheit). Being outdoors is like being in an oven. Some parts of the city had a power outage recently. Too many airconditioners were being used and the electricity requirement could not be supplied.

Now, headaches and dry eyes and even gastro are common.

My car overheated the other day. The cooling fan just quit on me. I guess it was so overworked.

We had our first taste of rain two days ago and it was such a refreshing sight to see. Hopefully, with the ushering in of May, some more rain will come down on us. May the different places all over the country be showered with coolness as they celebrate their fiestas. And, may the heat of summer 2007 finally leave us because I'm afraid it is adding more fuel to the fire of the upcoming May 14 national midterm elections.

Whew! Ang init!
